A huge interplay of flickering lights, roaring tractors and music created a fairytale atmosphere on Saturday evening during the first ‘Lighted tractor tour’ of Landelijke Gilde Lede.
From 6.30 pm, an impressive number of decorated tractors arrived at the parking lot of sports hall De Ommegang in Lede for the start of the latest initiative of De Landelijke Gilde. That turned out to be a huge hit. No fewer than 56 beautifully decorated tractors prepared themselves for the hottest ride of the year through road-ravaged Lede.

The route went from the car park at De Ommegang via Broeder De Saedeleerstraat towards Hofstade, past Lede station, via WZC Markizaat to the market square and then along Molenbergstraat towards Impe, Papegem and along Grote Steenweg N9 to Oordegem, past WZC Prieelshof, Smetlede and Wanzele to eventually drive back to youth center Bidong along Guchtstraat, Wichelsesteenweg and Hoogstraat.

On that 22-kilometer stretch, besides the public along the side of the road, there were many surprised and stunned motorists. It was therefore a beautiful spectacle to watch. The organizers were rightly very satisfied and mayor Geertrui Van De Velde (CD&V), who made her appearance at De Ommegang at the start, also had nothing but praise. We think Lede has a wonderful new tradition.
